Thank you for your interest in CPR / First Aid Training

Sudden Cardiac Arrest is one of the leading causes of death in the United States every year. Most people who suffer sudden cardiac arrest outside of a hospital do not receive quick CPR from bystanders which would otherwise give them a better chance at survival. This is unfortunate since CPR can be easily learned and is taught all over the country. Early CPR doubles and can even triple the survival chance of those who suffer sudden cardiac arrest. Why should you consider CPR?

You no longer need to do mouth to mouth

For the longest time, CPR was taught with mouth to mouth breathing as a required component. Guidelines were changed in 2010. These new guidelines show a strong push for hands only CPR. Studies have shown that bystanders were less likely to perform CPR out of fear they would not handle an airway correctly and also had concerns with direct mouth to mouth contact. New guidelines teach techniques which focus more on the compressions which have been shown to be just as effective as full CPR in people who suffer sudden cardiac arrest.

CPR Saves Lives

When someone suffers sudden cardiac arrest, their heart is not sufficiently pumping blood throughout the body. For every minute without proper circulation, the chances of survival drop significantly. by performing CPR, you are acting as the persons living heart beat. Early CPR keeps blood circulating throughout the body until trained help arrives or the person arrives at a hospital.

Many cardiac arrests happen at home

Most cardiac arrrests happen at home. This means that loved ones are saved at home by parents, children, and guests in the home. Early CPR is necessary to keep someone alive until help gets there.

Your child might already be a step ahead of you

The Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance has made a big push to bring CPR to schools and camps. Thousands of students across the country have already been taught Hands Only CPR as well as steps for choking and how to recognize allergic reactions. For the last several years in Southampton, we started hands only teaching at several area schools, teaching students of all ages.
